As we move into Summer 2026 we currently have no classes planned and have been using our weekly time slot for open jamming. Classes are avialable by popular request. The best way to stay updated is to be a part of our Signal Group.
Synapsis is a performance collective that has been active in Humboldt County for over 15 years and has a rich history in the local CI scene. Recently they worked to renovate a historic theatre on Union Street in Eureka. This space is beautiful and great for dancing with a wood floor full of character.
Also in the hall on Thursday nights on the stage a figure drawing group practices. The soundscape varies week to week as sometimes they play records and sometimes we curate the sound. The dancefloor is somewhat heated, but dancing in layers is advised.
Humboldt Ecstatic Dance
In our small remote community the Contact Improvisation and Ecstatic Dance scenes are deeply intertwined. You'll often find dancers flowing between both worlds.
Ecstatic Dance happens weekly at the D Street Community Center in Arcata on Sunday mornings at 11:00 AM. Additionally, Synapsis hosts a special evening dance with a class, food, and late-night vibes, typically on the third Friday of the month at 7:00 PM.
